ELI5: How You Earn Points for the 1Bn XRD Airdrop in the Radix Incentives Campaign | The Radix Blog | Radix DLT

The Radix Incentives Campaign rewards you for doing real things on-chain like swapping tokens, providing liquidity, and lending. But how do you actually earn rewards?

TL;DR

  • Do things on-chain → earn Activity Points (AP) in different activity categories
  • Each week, AP per category is converted to Season Points (SP) based on how you rank
  • Your XRD holdings give you a multiplier to boost your final SP
  • More real activity + more XRD = more rewards

Step 1: Doing→ Earn Activity Points (AP)

Every time you take part in supported on-chain activities, you earn Activity Points (AP) in real time. These activities include things like:

  • Providing liquidity or trade in these DEX pools (on Ociswap, CaviarNine, DeFiPlaza):
    xUSDC:XRD, xUSDT:XRD, xETH:XRD, xWBTC:XRD
  • CaviarNine only:
Add liquidity to LSULP or participate in Hyperstaking
  • Lending assets on Root or WEFT:
    xUSDC, xUSDT, xETH, xWBTC, XRD,
  • LSULP (On Root only)
  • Network usage:
    – Interact with components (unique component interactions per week)
    – Pay transaction fees

For each activity category (e.g. providing stablecoin liquidity to DEXs), you earn AP. You can think of this like arcade machines – you can go and earn points playing pacman and space invaders, but your score in one doesn’t affect your score the other.

Think of AP as your “participation score.” The more you do, the more you get.

Each activity has a different way of earning points. For example, for most dApps where you provide liquidity, your AP is calculated by the USD value of liquidity provided over the week, also known as a time weighted average. The more USD value you provide, and the longer you provide it for over the week, the more AP you will earn.

→ Examples:

  1. If you provide 100 xUSDC in liquidity for 1 hour, you’d earn: 100 xUSDC × 60 minutes = 6,000 AP
  2. If you provide 500 xUSDC in liquidity all week (10,080 minutes), you’d earn: 500 x 10,080 = 5.04 million AP

Note: You start earning AP automatically once you link your accounts and your total XRD/LSU holdings exceed $50 (across all linked accounts, liquidity pools, lending platforms, etc.).

Step 2: Activity Points → Season Points (SP)

Radix allocates a pool of Season Points (SP) per activity category per week. For example, there may be 1000 SP for supplying stablecoin (xUSDC, xUSDT) on DEXs.

At the end of each week, Radix takes all the weekly AP earned in that category and turns it into SP. The more active you are compared to others, basically your rank on that activity’s leaderboard for the week, the more SP you earn.

To go a little deeper on how the AP is converted to SP, this is the high-level of the calculation:

Instead of just handing out SP evenly (which would reward bots), users are ordered by their total points, and depending on which rank group they are in, they get a share of the SP:

  1. Everyone’s AP is compared to others doing the same activity.
  2. Those below a minimum activity amount and in the lowest 10% of AP are removed from the list to remove dust/spam/bots
  3. The remaining users are  ordered based on the amount of AP they have.
  4. Those with the most AP get the highest share of the weekly SP for that activity category, and those with the least get the lowest share.

TLDR – SP is distributed based on how high you are on the weekly leaderboard. Higher rank = more SP

Step 3: XRD/LSU Multiplier Boosts Your SP

After your SP is calculated, it’s multiplied by a number between 0.5× and 3×, based on how much XRD or LSUs  your linked accounts hold or have deposited in the supported dApps.

This multiplier is based on how much value you’re holding across all your linked accounts.

What Counts Toward Your Multiplier?
  • XRD, LSU, and LSULP held in your wallet
  • These same assets deposited into supported pools or lending platforms

Linked Accounts

To earn any points, you must “enroll” in the Radix Rewards program and link any accounts you want tracked. This is because the system combines your activity across all your accounts at a “user” level rather than just at the account level.

To do this, when you first connect to the Radix Rewards page, you become a “user.”

You can then link multiple accounts to that user, and your AP/SP/Multiplier will be based on everything across your linked accounts.
